[Music] [Applause] [Music] hey folks V here I’m going to give you a little Rig Rundown on my beat rig that was built by Douglas MacArthur my most excellent guitar tech I don’t have anything to do with this okay the beauty of this rig is Doug I just say I would like that I would like that I would like that and all of this beautiful looming and construction the color he built everything it is beautiful but even more so it’s clean and it works great and it does everything I need and I’m going to explain it I may not have it all right so we have Doug here just in case okay so basically the setup it’s a two amp setup I use my Synergy and I’ll get to that but I also use the JC uh Jazz chorus the rle in jazz chorus because this was the classic amp that Robert Frip used with and Adrian had the same one and they have a particular tone so that uh is mixed with my Synergy rig and that can all be accessed here so I come out of my guitar and uh what’s the first thing I go into Doug the WWA the Wawa and I’m I’m using a crybaby out of the WWA we go into the overdrive right and this this overdrive here is a an experiment right now it was custom made for me by mxr to experiment with certain parameters this little EP booster I’ve never used it before except for this tour and I’m so surprised at how often I’m using it because it gives you a boost but it it accentuates like everything above 4K in a way that’s not painful so that’s nice and then I have this I’ve always loved these phase 90s I don’t know why they have a sound but the guitar goes through this and then of course I have uh my whammy pedal which has been one of my favorite toys all through the years I’ve tried to figure out ways to keep my 9 volts from having to change them or from uh you know maybe getting them some electricity nothing works because it always creates uh DC hum in the system except that the unique thing about this is everything is shielded and they’re actually separate kinds of lines so there’s no crossover this is the uh Channel switcher for the fractal unit because really my rig is relatively simple in that I use some foot pedals and this is the Workhorse really and I don’t use it for modeling I use it for uh just its effects each song neurotica has a patch I mean a bank Neil and Jack and me heartbeat sator and Tangier the whole show is set up and Doug navigates it he has another pedal like this right over there and it’s quite a quite a pleasure because throughout the whole show I don’t have to touch it Doug does it and there’s like what 50 switches per song you know so uh that’s really nice that you can’t buy okay this is the switcher for the uh Synergy now the Synergy has really worked for me beautifully because uh what it is and I’ll take you over here real quick um these are Synergy modules they’re preamps from particular existing amplifiers the same schematics so for instance I have two bmen which is like a fender and they’re tubes and they’re the preamp section then I have two of the vi modules which are kind of like the Legacy and each one of these has two channels clean dirty so I have eight channels to choose from and I use all of them on this tour because there’s so much texture in in the song so many different textures in each song and I control that here with this pedal this is a switcher for the amplifiers this is my rig and that’s the JC so it’s all midy so when Doug changes from one song to another or a part in a song If it’s required to have both amps that’s controlled by this this is a compressor this fantastic UA audio compressor ressor that I only strap on the JC stereo chorus and this is a volume for the chorus this is the uh guitar synthesizer section this is a volume for the Sy y1000 the Roland and the GM 800 they’re back there and I got to tell you I had such a great time building synthesizer patches for this tour because it wasn’t something I really did for the guitar and finally when I had the opportunity because the the the s y1 000 is more like a synthesizer and the GM is sort of more like a sampler so throughout the whole show I use them in different combinations with with patches that I built and that’s really all that’s out here the most important piece of gear here is this this switch right here turns my fan on here’s the Synergy modules here’s my axe Effect 3 that runs all my effects and these are my fryette power amps I’ve went through so many different kinds of power amps I’ve tried returning to various kinds of heads and uh th this is it these are these are the ones for my ear the fryette power amps offer the cleanest most authentic power as opposed to colored power where they you know the the the power amp colors the sound this is very transparent and beautiful and then you go over here my computer for programming this and also uh for programming uh the synthesizers this would be the Sy and we keep this up in sound check in case I want to tweak something and you come over here look at how beautiful this is though we got the uh Sy y1000 and the 800 the JC and then these cabinets these are for the guitar the Guitar Rig and these are for the synthesizer here I am with my trusty Tech Doug MacArthur who built this rig and uh keeps it so well run so clean we didn’t have any problems Blackwood yeah and uh takes care of my guitars beautifully our little dugey
