Top 5 Guitar Amps for beginners | Gear4music Guitars

okay you’re getting into guitar and you need an amp well the list is sometimes a little bit daunting so I’ve picked out my top five amps for beginners to give you a place to start [Music] before we jump into the five amp choices while you’re here if you wouldn’t mind liking and subscribing that means you get to see more of this content in the future so jumping into the choices first up is the Behringer ha10 now this is compact but it doesn’t sacrifice anything in terms of the tone so as you can hear there in the plane it’s it’s a very a lot of clarity a lot of definition to the sound um certainly a lot more than you would maybe expect of an amp of this size and price now it gives you two channels so that gives you instant tonal versatility you can have you go from the cleans that we heard there to kind of to a more kind of quite extreme the game control is quite sensitive and you can get really driven tones out of it this sound maybe something like this [Music] um all right [Music] and that’s fantastic it’s it’s really a complete package of an amp just in practice amp size and price so you’ve got three band EQ to sculpt your tone volume and then a dedicated gain for the second overdriven Channel and it just packages up everything you need an amp into a compact size that is perfect for beginners right so next up we have the gear for music 15 watt electric guitar amp so that’s five Watts more Solid State power than the Behringer but actually comes in cheaper you’ve got a lot of the same uh controls so you’ve got the same Three band EQ volume and then dedicated second overdriven Channel also what’s really nice you’ve got an AUX in and headphones feature so if you want to practice silently without annoying the neighbors you’ve got the option too and if you want to play along with your favorite songs you have the option to do both of those as well which is really nice and it has kind of and again nice clean tone [Music] foreign [Music] driven tone you know has plenty of gain on tap so again it just neatly packages of everything you need in your first guitar ramp and and puts it in a really light portable package that happens to be really affordable as well okay up next is the orange crush 12 so this is 12 Watts so it sits directly between the Behringer and the GIF music um and what I love about this is it’s just an orange amp but smaller so orange amps tend to be quite characterful they have quite a distinctive tone you can only tell when it’s an orange amp and this gets all of that tone just in a compact portable package so you’ve got the volume and three band EQ as standard this is actually single Channel but what that unlocks is you get dedicated overdrive and game controls so you can sculpt The Driven side of your tone with a little bit more detail now given the orange amps are famed and used for High Gain tones a lot of the time this is really cool and it allows you it gives you a little bit more control over your tone and the gain side of things which is really nice but it’s a very responsive amp it has a lot of clarity and definition to your playing and to be honest it sounds fantastic um sounding a little bit something like this [Music] thank you and if I just add in a little bit of grit so I’m going to turn the overdrive up to about uh that’s about one o’clock and the gain to about 12 o’clock gives you a little bit more hair a bit of dirt that sounds like this foreign Orange next up is an amp that is somewhat Infamous in the Guitar World perhaps unfairly and that is the line six spider now this is a spider five sat in front of me this is the latest situation from line six um and the advantage of both this and the katana that you see next is these are modeling amps so these don’t just amplify and project your tone they have options to add effects over the top and especially the line six comes packed with presets so there are ready made up song presets so if you’ve of classic songs so if you’ve got certain songs in mind they’re pre-programmed in and you just need to to turn it down to get to them however um a lot of people think that it’s gimmicky and the the chord tone isn’t good enough um and yeah I think it’s it stands up perfectly well on its own you know the clones have a lot of clarity um [Music] but what’s great about the spiders is a level of control so as you can see you’ve got your drive through band EQ and volume what’s really cool about this is if you these two switches here if you switch to the FX it opens up so these become multi-purpose controls so you can then dictate the three selectable effects and the Reeve dedicated Reverb controlling in there and compression and this lets you get in and sculpt your tone to ridiculously deep levels if I’m honest especially for example this price point in amongst all these presets don’t worry insane is still in there [Music] [Applause] [Music] and so the final choice on the bottom here is the boss Katana 50. now these Innovative lamps were released a few years ago um and they are seriously impressive in the depth that you can go into sculpting your tone so as you can see you’ve got you’ve got all the classic controls you’ve got your gain and volume base middle and treble and then a dedicated effects section which is excellent so that these are dual concentric knobs the first two to give you your Boost and your modulation um your FX and your delay and then you’ve got a dedicated Reverb knob on the end which is really nice and then you’ve actually got an attenuation control alongside your master volume so these amongst them as well as the one of the big things which is a knob so you can just quickly select amp type so if you want to quickly go from crunch to clean to something High Gain there is a knob there that lets you just quickly switch on the Fly and these all combine in tandem to give you the queen tone is lovely it’s really [Music] foreign but the level of depth you can go to in then kind of adding effects and obviously this is a boss product boss are famed for their pedals and all of those are built into this so it’s kind of an amplifier Plus in that in that sense and that it gives you a lovely amp turn but you’ve got all the effects on top so if we just start to to mess with this slightly you know factor in quite a bit of modulation a healthy amount of delay uh maybe a little bit of boost we don’t do too much and then obviously a nice bit of Reverb leave it on the 50 watt I mean that’s the other thing 50 Watts you know for this price point that’s a even though it’s solid state that’s a lot of power you know you could you could quite easily gig with this um so yeah and we’ll set that on to just keep it on the clean setting so you can hear the change but [Music] thank you foreign [Music] Beyond in terms of sculpting each other and adding effects all within the amp no external gear needed then the katana is a is a superb choice for that and that rounds off this list I think you’ve got five fantastic amps here but all offer something different in there for suits different types of of guitarists and people that are looking for something quite specific in there from their first amp however if if any of these are particularly impressed you let me know in the comments or if I’ve missed an obvious choice that you think should be on it then let me know if
