Reasons Why Amp Sims Are Better Than Real Amps Part 2

Reason number two is the reliability. I’ve been using real amps and pedals for a while now and eventually they kind of start to get dirty and you got to figure out how to clean them appropriately. The internet is unfortunately filled with misinformation on this topic. I was recommended to use this cleaner which this might work okay for inputs but this is not good for potentiometers. This strips away the oil and lubrication that is needed for the potentiometer to move smoothly. So I screwed up a pedal doing this. And another thing that people recommend is Deoxit D5. Again, it’s pretty good for the inputs, but for the potentiometers, really, you’re supposed to use Deoxit F5. So, again, my Orange Micro Dark, some of the uh potentiometers were starting to get scratchy. I used Deoxy D5. They don’t feel the same. The thing is, when you’re recording and you’re doing so much stuff, do you really want to worry about is your amp going to fail on you? Because eventually your amp is going to fail one way or another. Make sure it’s on low.
