Cliffs of Dover, if it were played by Stevie Ray Vaughan

Eric Johnson

A while ago is was thinking about playing this song in the style of SRV and figured it wouldn’t work. A few months later I tried again, and figured it was worth a shot. Cliffs of Dover is an amazing instrumental piece, by Eric Johnson, one of my favourite guitar players. The speed is not the issue when trying to convert this song into something SRV would have done, but the note choice is quite different from Eric. Leaning more into the blues scales and rhythmic strumming than EJ’s cascading riffs of individual notes being played.

Hope you like it!
