Orange Amps is expanding its Baby guitar amp line with the Baby Terror – a 20-watt solid state lunchbox head built for backpacks, desktops and small stages.
Looking like something you could easily lose down the back of a sofa, it offers Gain and Volume controls, alongside a three-band EQ and Presence dial. The amp is specifically voiced to take in both “warm rounded cleans, classic crunch, and cutting drive.”
It’s also been designed with overdrive pedals in mind. A Tubby switch pushes the low end earlier into the signal path to increase the fullness and body of its tone, particularly with cleaner tones. Disengaging it brings a leaner sound to the fore.

A second footswitchable Volume control has also been added for when more thrust is needed in a mix, such as for lead boosts. Orange says this won’t color the gain in the process.
It’s generously kitted out round the back, with an effects loop and a balanced line out with ground lift for live use and home recording. It also offers the option to pair it with their preferred Impulse Responses. And for the cab enthusiasts, there are 8- and 16-ohm speaker outputs.
The Baby Terror features a single-ended, class A, JFET front end and comes with a quality padded custom-designed protective bag.
“It’s a pretty versatile little thing,” says Orange’s chief amp wizard, Ade Emsley. “It’s way more versatile than the previous offerings in this format.
“It’s essentially channel A from the Dual Baby, he adds, with two footswitchable Volume controls and four stages of cascading, single-ended JFET gain, so it sounds very tube-like.”

Orange’s Baby amps have proven to have a bigger bite than their diminutive forms suggest, making them a surprise hit, and so Orange revitalizing the recipe is nothing but a good thing.
It comes off the back of Ed Sheeran’s well-received signature acoustic amps, and the OR60 head, its purest-sounding head yet.
