The concert film documenting Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance and the original Black Sabbath lineup will hit cinemas worldwide October 28, giving fans another chance to experience the historic July 5, 2025 farewell at Birmingham’s Villa Park.

The sold-out concert marked Ozzy’s final live performance, taking place just 17 days before his death. It also reunited Black Sabbath’s original lineup — Ozzy on vocals, Tony Iommi on electric guitar, Geezer Butler on bass and Bill Ward on drums — for the first time in more than two decades.
Ozzy performed a solo set before joining Iommi, Butler and Ward for Black Sabbath’s closing performance. The event also featured appearances from a remarkable collection of artists influenced by the band, including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Gojira, Halestorm and Mastodon.
Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine served as the concert’s musical director, while Jason Momoa hosted the event.
“There’s never been anything like that that’s happened in the history of rock and roll,” Morello says in the film. “[Black Sabbath] gets to play their final show basically in the Ground Zero of where they created heavy metal.”
For Iommi, the performance provided a fitting conclusion to Black Sabbath’s story.
“It was a closure for the band and it was a good way to go out, I think,” the guitarist says.
Butler describes the atmosphere somewhat differently, recalling the overwhelming response from the crowd.
“To me it was like pure love,” he says. “It was just a wave of love. It’s the only way I can describe it really. I mean I could feel it as if it is like tangible.”
Ward, meanwhile, says the return to Birmingham felt almost surreal.
“Felt completely at home in a place where I belong,” the drummer says. “It almost felt like I was in a dream.”
The idea for the Back to the Beginning concert came from Sharon Osbourne, who managed Ozzy and oversaw the event. She says the singer had a simple motivation for returning to the stage.
“Back to the Beginning came about because I asked Ozzy what would really make him happy,” Sharon says. “And he said the only thing that would make him happy was if he could perform again and say goodbye to his fans. That’s all he wanted to do. He wanted to say goodbye and thank you.”
The concert sold out within minutes and brought together generations of musicians and fans to celebrate Black Sabbath’s legacy. In addition to the main acts, the event featured all-star appearances from musicians including Ronnie Wood, Steven Tyler, Sammy Hagar, Billy Corgan, Yungblud, Nuno Bettencourt, Vernon Reid, Jake E. Lee, K.K. Downing, Rudy Sarzo, Chad Smith and Travis Barker.
The concert film has been mixed in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound and is designed specifically for theatrical presentation, allowing audiences to experience both the scale of the Villa Park production and the intimacy of Ozzy’s farewell.
The film will screen worldwide for a limited time beginning October 28. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. ET Thursday, September 24.
