“We always have regrets – especially when you see a band you were in playing Madison Square Garden. I left the band, and I shouldn’t have”: Franché Coma was the frantic guitarist on the Misfits’ first album – but the world wouldn’t hear it for 20 years

As the original guitarist of the Misfits, Franché Coma recorded one of punk’s great lost works, Static Age, before leaving the band in 1978. “Should I have done it? No. But I did,” he says.

It wasn’t until they hired Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein as Coma’s replacement that they pushed to the forefront of punk via buzzsaw tunes and horror aesthetics.
