Former black midi guitarist Geordie Greep has issued a new statement addressing sexual assault and rape allegations stemming from an encounter at a house party in the early hours of October 8, just hours before his scheduled performance in Vancouver, Canada. The woman who accused him has also shared further details of the alleged incident.
Flyers stating “Geordie Greep is a rapist” were distributed to concertgoers ahead of the show. Greep was due onstage at 8 p.m. but did not appear until two hours later, performing alone.
In a speech during the show, Greep denied the rape allegation, describing the incident as a “misunderstanding.” He said it involved an encounter at a house party the previous night that continued into the early hours of October 8. He also pledged the concert’s proceeds to an anti-violence organization and canceled the next three dates of his tour.
It has since emerged, via NME, that Greep’s keyboardist, Cameron Campbell, quit the band in response to the incident. Campbell and the woman who accused Greep, identified under the pseudonym “Laura,” have now shared further details in an interview with Paste.
Laura says she met Greep at a bar while drinking with a friend. According to Paste, she told Greep multiple times that she was in an exclusive relationship, including directly telling him herself.
When the bar closed, the group decided to continue the night at a friend’s apartment. During the walk there, Laura says, Greep exhibited “weird behavior,” though she adds that nothing seemed alarming or dangerous at the time.
Laura eventually fell asleep on her friend’s couch. At around 5 a.m., she says, she woke to find Greep kissing her.
“I don’t know for how long because I passed out, but I think I woke up fairly quickly,” she alleges. “His lips were on my lips, trying to make out with me, and then I pushed him off.”
People at the Geordie Greep concert in Vancouver are posting that a guy was walking around passing out these fliers. Meanwhile the show was supposed to start at 8PM and he only just started playing 2 hours later. None of his bandmates are out with him either https://t.co/vGsYdBwfbyOctober 9, 2026
Laura says she screamed in shock, alerting her friends to what was happening.
According to Paste, Campbell was not in the room but heard Laura yell at Greep to “get off” her. He says he “immediately” ran in to check on her. Greep was kicked out of the apartment but returned a few minutes later looking for his phone, prompting a second eviction.
Campbell says Laura was “crying and very visibly shaken up” by the incident. He also recalls that Greep was “still lurking around the building” afterward.
“After that, I knew that I was gonna quit,” Campbell says.
Campbell adds that he and his bandmates confronted Greep at soundcheck, telling him his behavior was out of order. When the musicians saw the flyers being distributed at the venue, the rest of Greep’s bandmates followed Campbell out.
Greep has since issued a new statement on Instagram, offering his account of the encounter and apologizing “for what I did.”
“I fell asleep in an armchair and, at around 6am, woke up,” he says of the party. “One of the women in the group was on a sofa opposite me alongside three other people who were with us that night.
“Throughout the night I had – I now realize mistakenly and stupidly – believed that she was interested in me. I went over to her and leaned down to kiss her. I kissed her once and she immediately responded negatively and pushed me away.
“I apologised and stepped away,” he continues. “She was understandably upset and told me to leave. She told me she had been asleep, which to my great regret, I honestly did not realize.
“I want to unreservedly apologise to her for what I did and for the distress and hurt I caused that night. It was a huge mistake. I feel awful about it and I am very sorry. I got it all wrong that night and I accept that.
“I understand the impact of my actions and take full accountability. I am not trying to minimize what happened in any way and, again, all I can say is how sorry I am.”
