In a recent interview, Chris Poland He stated that Dave Mustaine's derogatory comments have impaired his career significantly – and that he only realized the size of the damage a long time later.
Poland contributed significantly to Megadeth's sound by participating in the group's first two studio albums. However, the guitarist's permanence in the band was interrupted without ceremony in 1987, when he and drummer Gar Samuelson were invited to leave, allegedly after a fight for substance abuse.
After that, Mustaine would have written the song “Liar” (“Liar”, released on the album So Far, So Good… So What?, 1988, as a direct attack Poland. In a recent interview with The David Ellefson Show, the guitarist said: “I am sorry that Mustaine took the stage for years and called me a liar.”

Poland continued, “I never thought much about it, but then I did the math and realized that that's why things were so hard for me, trying to close contracts.” He exemplified by quoting Carvin Guitars: “The guy in the department of artists told me, 'We don't use people like you in our cast.'
Finally, while admitting that the whole situation has put a weight on your shoulders, Poland guarantees that it does not feed grudge by Mustaine. “It's no jealousy or anything. It's finally realized how much it really caused damage.”
