so you were wondering how guitar strings are made Guitar strings start out with the middle interior core of the string It’s basically a wire that’s called the hex core Wrapped around that hex core is another wire And this is where you get all of the different types of variations that guitar strings can actually be Normally guitar strings are usually round wound but they’re also flat wound guitar strings And it just refers to the texture of that wire that is wrapped around the hex core Usually just the lowest four strings in the guitar are actually wound Generally the B string and E string are not That’s why you’ll notice they’re a little bit of a different color a lot of the time And you generally also won’t get any squeaking noises when you’re on these strings the way you would with any other string And the final step that some guitar strings have but some don’t is a coating around the outside AOD strings are supposed to last longer and be more resistant to corrosion and that kind of
