Jet Black by Bad Cat Amps

Hi, I’m John from Backad Amps and I’m here to answer a question I get asked very often. Uh, what is the Jet Black and how does it fit in our lineup? Uh, first off, it is a a handbuilt amp, not handwired, but handbuilt in some places. Handwired, yes. But it’s made on a PCB and it’s here in Costa Mesa, California. Built right here. Um, essentially it is sort of the older brother of the Blackat and that it’s very similar controls. Um, it’s a 30watt 4 EL84 configuration as opposed to a a 15 watt 2 EL84 configuration. Um, it has all the same features as the Black Hat um except a little more power to it. Um, slightly more gain in channel 2. Um, but let me take a look at this the uh what what it has here for you. Channel one, just like the Blackhead, it’s a basically a volume and a master. Uh, channel two, volume and master. They share a threeb tone stack. Over. Lastly, over here we have a an amazing analog tremolo circuit. Um, that just sounds like as good as any pedal. Um, and an incredible reverb circuit that we spent a ton of time designing. The idea behind it is it’s very studio quality and it sits sort of behind the guitar signal. So even when you really push it hard, the attack of the guitar is still sitting kind of in front and the reverb is behind it. Sort of this nice pillowy sound. Uh channel one, middle pickup, [Music] H150. Real spanky. Here’s a [Music] I can gain that up just a little bit. A little hair in [Music] it. Push a little more. [Music] Full gain on channel one. [Music] [Applause] [Music] gives you an idea. So, channel two sort of picks up where channel one leaves off. So, I’m going to switch over to channel two. By the way, it’s a little foot switch that comes with it that uh will switch channels and turn the tremolo on and off. So, here is channel two. I’m going to put the game back around 9:00 or so, so you can kind of see where it starts. [Music] Push up a little [Music] more. Bit more about 2:00 or so. [Music] Gas it some more. [Music] So, that’s the reverb, too, by the way. Let’s back that up. Let’s go clean again. Listen to this. I’m going to dime the reverb, basically. [Music] [Applause] But you see the guitar kind of sits in front of the reverb. That that was intentional. Um, and then I’m going to show you the trim. This tremolo is fantastic, too, by the way. [Music] And like all of our amps, it has a a buffered effects loop, so you can run long cable stretches or you can gain the crap out of it and go through a stryman or any kind of a, you know, digital effect that’s not going to overload it. Um, three band tone stack pretty also very active. Um, you can really get some nice scoops out of this thing if you want to push that [Music] [Music] [Applause] Not quite metal, but it’s definitely like heavy ‘7s rock. But, uh, anyway, that is the Badcat Jet Black. And, uh, thank you very much for watching.
