[Music] heat up here [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] hey everyone and welcome my name is Carlo Libertini and I am super excited today we’re going to dive deep into Universal Audio’s new Woodro 55 instrument amplifier now this has just been nothing but fun for me and it will be for you too as well I’m sure because you get the same awardwinning tones that were first made available in their UAFX guitar pedal counterpart version of this now available in your digital audio workstation of choice and we’re talking about that famous old school rich early tube amplifier vibes and those chimey cleans and those real viby crunch tones all in one sweet new plugin and really I mean it’s no it’s no surprise it’s authentically modeled after the original 5e3 amplifier the original American tweed right down to the preamp section the transformers and even the tube stages and tone stacking within the physical amp itself i mean it is just such a joy to play through this plugin i got to tell you it has been again nothing but fun for me and the original amp let’s be honest is undeniably one of the most popular longtime running combos ever made and but being a plug-in don’t forget you also get the advantages of that authentic tone but things like multiple cabinet and microphone combinations and a vast array of really great presets that have been crafted for you to help jumpst start your creativity so let’s talk a little bit about the plug-in itself now as you can see it is really cool uh the opening that we just heard was a preset called Woodro 55 and looking at the plugin it’s kind of great it just really emulates that original old school vibe you’ve got a section here for your input obviously your presets here are our presets that I was just talking about we also have a feature here for some room tone in our output right here output level plus you get a boost you can toggle on and off and vary the amount if you will and you got a stock amplifier the KP-3K uh mod the EP-3 and you this is a great combination right here one of my favorites actually and speaking of favorites let’s dive right in down at the bottom obviously you can toggle the amp on and off right here with the old school toggle feature we have a tone right here potentiometer the instrument right here volume and the mic volume plus you have a input one and input two and these will affect your tone obviously let’s take a listen actually let’s go to the beginning of what I just recorded and let’s play a little bit and mess around let’s get started let’s switch to input one here input [Music] two input one has more fuzz oh it’s got more hair on it oh wow it’s just awesome uh and let’s scroll through some of the presets let’s open up the preset browser and check out what’s included here because I am a big fan if you know me of jumpstarting my creativity with presets and Universal Audio is so thorough and generous with their presets their browsers are really intuitive you could search up here you could also search by tags and favorites these are some of my favorites and if you go to my I got my own user presets right here that I’ve been creating while I’ve been using it but if you wanted to let’s say start with something clean then obviously you would pick clean and it would just compartmentalize itself to clean style presets and let’s just take a listen to one of these while we’re here let’s start this [Music] one that’s my kind of clean really like that let’s go to a 410 clean and you might notice that I’m actually adjusting the output level so we could have some continuity with the uh with the volume as we do our playback there we go now because I love audio production you could see that I’m not only running it through the woodro here but I’m also hitting it a little bit with the LA 3A here from Universal Audio just to get some overs and I’m also sending it to Capital Chambers here also by Universal Audio absolutely amazing sounding reverb so dive right in what I’m going to do though is I’m going to bypass uh I’m going to bypass the reverb right now and let’s just check out the room room teeone feature right here i’ll bring it down to zero and let’s work our way up because what this is going to do is sometimes you know let’s say your microphone is too close or direct and you want to back it off a little bit to get some of the room that you’re in this will do it for you let’s take a listen i’m going to raise the tone [Music] it’s dry 92% [Music] wet nice excellent job did I mention this sounds absolutely amazing and it’s so fun to use let’s get into some more of these um microphone and speaker combinations let’s play back let’s try something actually what I’m going to do is open this up and go to my favorites right here here’s a 410 clean 5e3 and you see I’ve loaded it up right here let’s play our audio let me scroll through some cabinet mic combos direct now why would you want to record direct well obviously maybe you want to reamp it later or you know use other Universal Audio uh amp plugins if you want i mean the sky’s is the limit oh I like this one let me bring the room tone down a little bit now I’m going to adjust the tone ready darker to the left brighter to the right [Music] here’s the instrument volume drives it a little more hits the input harder and the mic [Music] volume you can get so much out of such subtle moves with this that’s because of the accuracy that it has been professionally modeled after again you know I talk a lot about how great it is and fun to use these plugins because that’s what it should be in this day and age i mean you should love your plugins and Universal Audio is guaranteed to deliver every time uh let’s try something else let me load up uh grab the guitar and let’s load up another tune and try something with a different feel let’s check it out [Music] okay this time we went for something a little bit more clean if you will and I really like that let’s take a listen to what I just recorded here and you could see I’m using a classic room preset uh the JP12 with the Royer 121 and the classic SM57 mic here let’s take a listen quickly here again what I did is I took the liberty to produce this a little bit because once it’s in your system and it’s recorded well we get to have fun that way check this out i took the Woodro 55 and I’m also adding a bit of a lei here something that you would also find from that era give it kind of that chorusy warble sound that is just makes you feel so authentic and then from there I did a little bit of compression one of my favorite presets Stones Rhythm Guitar that I tweak a little bit there also of course you universal audio plugins and then I sent it all a little bit here to the Galaxy Tape Echo under the fade right just to cast it to one side if you will and it’s giving me something just warm and cozy let’s take a listen to this now [Music] and there you have it so this is a quick look into the new UA Woodro 55
