[Music] hey guys good morning I’m going to go over this open for Time in a Bottle by Jim crosi uh this is a relatively easy song that first movement that opens the song in minor then he switches to Major and then you’re done the cool thing about the picking pattern is it’s a down and up pattern and what I mean by that is you’ll just go meaning strings 4 3 2 1 2 3 that’s going to be the pattern throughout I’ve had students ask me hey can I pick that you know can I just flat pick that that’s not what he’s doing but you could thumb first finger second finger third finger second finger first finger down and back so if you get that you iron that out however you want uh we start with a D minor chord here 4 3 2 1 2 3 this is a little tricky uh you just have to stretch your pinky there and hit that fifth [Music] string haunting switch these around now you take your second finger up here but the pinky stays down first finger goes here pinky stays down you can anch once the pinky lands here you can anchor the whole thing off that pinky we have to start here with the D Minor cuz we’re getting [Music] that switch these guys [Music] around and he puts this little Nifty run in five and two 5 and two 6 and three 5 and two 5 and two 5 and two 5 3 and [Music] two so we put that together we end up with [Music] this there’s your intro as we go through the verse you’re just continuing what you’ve already done in the intro starting with D Minor if I time batttle the first I’d like [Music] to then there’s a major movement so instead of basing everything around D Minor now we’re basing everything around d major there never seems B B minor take the first finger off g d with an F sharp in the base E minor [Music] 7 a and that in real times [Music] so major section not unlike classical music with uh classical music in in a lot of cases the blueprint they write there is you know there’s a minor section and then there’s a major section to break up the monotony or vice versa so Jim crosi great tune guy lot of fun to play very recognizable you know soon as you launch into that people are going to know uh what you’re playing and a great finger style workout to boot so uh thanks for checking the video out guys um think about the silver subscription a membership um that has full access to everything uh including the tabs for this particular Tune Lyrics tabs music score in the silver Library subscribe if it strikes you www.the guitarshop do.com and we will definitely see you in the next video
