Former Whitesnake guitarist Adrian Vandenberg has been forced to cancel his tour dates this year due to health issues that have left him unable to travel or perform.
The tour, dubbed My Whitesnake Years, was set to kick off today (August 3) in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
“Never in my roughly 60-year-long career as a touring/ gigging guitar player [have] I had to cancel a show or tour,” writes Vandenberg in a social media statement.

“Not even when in 1987 I had my face totally ripped open in an early morning traffic accident in New York, and I still played the show that evening because I absolutely did not want to miss playing a sold-out show at the legendary Madison Square Garden.”
However, Vandenberg has now been forced to cancel his upcoming tour, after being “strongly urged by the medical specialists involved to not do this upcoming USA tour at this point.
“Right now, it’d be just too short after a bacterial infection that invaded my body and that needs to get taken care of right away,” he details. “Those creepy bad boys need to get their treacherous asses kicked out of my body asap.”
Vandenberg goes on to reassure fans that he’s in “great, very capable, expert hands in the hospital, and things are fortunately moving in the right direction.”
According to the guitarist’s statement, the tour is expected to be rescheduled for a later date, and he encouraged fans to visit his official website for the latest updates on the postponed tour.
