Positive Grid just dropped prices to double digits on two of its best portable guitar practice tools

Guitar practice amps are often regarded as unglamorous things; means to an end, save for the occasional breakout brilliance of something like Peavey’s Decade Too. Positive Grid is one brand determined to cut through that general unglamorousness, with a dedicated approach to creating practice-friendly devices that put creativity and simplicity at their core. Whether it’s the whimsy of a pocket-sized 5W mini amp or the tonal endlessness of a silent-practice headphone amp system, Positive Grid’s on the pulse – and, for Black Friday, throwing you another bone in the shape of this early Black Friday sale.

There’s something for every guitarist in the Positive Grid roster. For the guitarist after an unobtrusive way to practice at home, without sacrificing tonal expression or gratification, there’s the Positive Grid Spark Neo Core: a pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones, into which you can also plug your guitar and benefit from dozens of amp models and effects courtesy of the Spark app.

For the on-the-go guitarist, the Spark Go is a rechargeable 5W practice amp in an unbelievably small body. Again, a plethora of well-formed digital amp and effects models await, as does Bluetooth speaker functionality and a gratifyingly big volume knob. Per our glowing 5-star review a little while back, “it’s hard to believe just how full and clear this little amp sounds. After five minutes of noodling, you quickly forget you’re playing through a device that’s not much bigger than the phone running the app.”

For me, the deal most worth shouting about is the Positive Grid Reactor 50W – a solid-state amp with digital tone-generation technology, accessible via the Reactor smartphone app. It’s an amp just as at-home in the practice room as it could be on the stage, and it’s robust enough to manage both; all this is already a bargain at $349, but for now it’s discounted to just below $250.
