Having worked alongside some of the biggest names in music, including Prince, Jeff Beck and Beyoncé, Rhonda Smith has no shortage of bass guitars to choose from. But one stands apart from the rest – an instrument she originally borrowed and, as she puts it, “never gave back”.

“It wasn’t actually made for me,” says Smith. “The first one – my baby, Tequila Sunrise – was Gary Grainger’s personal bass. It was one of the first four-strings manufactured by PRS for the Gary Grainger Signature series.
