Beatles fans will soon be able to walk through re-creations of the band’s history using sets and props from Sam Mendes’s upcoming four-film biopic series. Apple Corps has announced plans for a 100,000-square-foot Beatles experience in Liverpool, bringing the group’s story home in a new attraction more than four times the size of the existing The Beatles Story museum.
“I can’t wait for people to be able to step into our story and share the experience,” Paul McCartney said in a statement announcing the project on October 20.
The new attraction will take visitors from the Beatles’ childhoods in postwar Liverpool through their formative years in Hamburg, the Cavern Club, Beatlemania and beyond. Recreated settings will include Abbey Road, Shea Stadium and the group’s Savile Row headquarters, with immersive technology and original artifacts helping bring the band’s journey to life. Some of the locations will incorporate sets and props from Mendes’s The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event, scheduled for worldwide release by Sony Pictures in April 2028.
“Filming recently in Liverpool for our four Beatles movies brought home just how extraordinary the band’s legacy in the city is,” Mendes said. “Their imprint can be felt everywhere. It’s particularly fitting that this new Beatles experience will be helping to support the next generation of talent coming from this extraordinary city.”
The attraction will relocate The Beatles Story from its current home at Albert Dock to the former St Johns Market at St Johns Shopping Centre, in the heart of Liverpool. Apple Corps will take over operation of the existing attraction in 2027, ahead of the move the following year.
The project will also extend into the city skyline. Apple Corps plans to take over the 400-foot St Johns Beacon tower for a Beatles-themed Yellow Submarine experience, featuring panoramic 360-degree views of Liverpool.
“I find it incredible and humbling that people are still interested in our story, and it’s very exciting to me that The Beatles Story and the Beacon are being transformed in such an exciting way in the heart of Liverpool city,” McCartney said. “The extraordinary plans the Apple Corps team have shown me for The Beatles Story take me right back to that journey, from Liverpool to the world and back home again. It couldn’t have happened without Liverpool.”
Ticket proceeds will contribute to the Apple Corps Liverpool Trust, a charitable initiative intended to support local artists and cultural projects.
The Liverpool attraction will be only the second permanent Beatles experience operated by Apple Corps, following a planned attraction at 3 Savile Row in London, due to open at the end of 2027. The Savile Row building was the original home of Apple Corps and was the site of the Beatles’ final live rooftop performance on January 30, 1969.
Mendes’s four films will each tell the Beatles’ story from the perspective of a different member. Paul Mescal will play McCartney, Joseph Quinn will portray George Harrison, Barry Keoghan will play Ringo Starr and Harris Dickinson will portray John Lennon.
