Babicz and Gotoh, two huge names in guitar hardware, have pooled together their genius to deliver a new take on the electric guitar tremolo.
The FCH510G is a new guitar tremolo bridge system that Frankenstein’s the patented Babicz Contact Hardware saddles with Gotoh’s 510 six-pivot-point system.
In other words, it merges two key bridge innovations for a new trem that promises “exceptional tuning stability, tonal enhancement, and unmatched playability.”
It’s very much a best-of-both-worlds scenario, with the two competitors working together to advance trem technology. Here, Gotoh’s tremolo block bolsters sustain and resonance, while its clean design makes it a fitting upgrade to a wide range of guitars.
Add in Babicz’s Full Contact design – which replaces traditional two-point saddle height adjustment with a cam-based mechanism to maintain complete contact with the bridge plate – and it looks like a very interesting prospect.
The Full Contact design also means that energy transfer from strings to the body is maximized. This adds to the trem’s sustain for “fuller note bloom, and more consistent resonance across all strings”.
Additionally, the stable saddle design is in place to eliminate unwanted movement, which tightens the low-end and improves note definition across the fretboard, with string height adjustment that is both easy and precise. And there’s a whammy bar, too, which is always a plus.
The FCH510G is available now for $349.
