Crazy Tube Circuits, a Greek company that apparently learned electronics by staring at the sun and listening to Blue Cheer records, built this three-panel monster. It’s not a pedal. It’s a manifesto in a metal box. Enter the Crazy Tube Circuits Triptychon.
Four fuzz voices in the center panel:
- ff is a Fuzz Face—touchy, dynamic, the sound of a man having a nervous breakdown in a recording studio.
- vtb is a Vox Tone Bender, bright and nasty like a broken bottle in a pub fight.
- 3/2 and 2 are Mk1.5 and MkII Tone Benders, from saturated wall-of-sound to the kind of dense, suffocating fuzz that makes you check if your amp is on fire.
The right panel is a boost or an upper octave fuzz. Two voices each. The boost goes from cutting treble to mid-focused punch. The octave mode gives you articulate clarity or thick, saturated overtones that sound like your guitar is being strangled by a happy ghost.
Left panel is the amplifier drive. It doesn’t act like a typical overdrive. It recreates the compression and harmonic environment of a pushed tube amp, the thing that makes fuzzes and boosters actually come alive instead of sounding like a wet sock on a speaker cone.
The heart of this thing is six metal-can silicon transistors engineered to deliver germanium feel without the instability. No tuning. No temperature tantrums. Just the sound of a 1970s recording session without the drugs.
Anti-buffer circuit restores impedance when you’ve got active pickups or wireless systems trying to murder your tone. An external footswitch lets you rip the drive section free and control it independently.
Two footswitches. Left manages the amp drive. Right cycles fuzz voices and boost/octave. The drive can be assigned to either one.
Three panels, two stomps, infinite wreckage. That’s all you get, and it’s a lot.
