What is it?

When it comes to affordable alternatives to the Big F, you aren’t exactly short on options these days, and with parts more accessible than ever, these budget-friendly options are typically well spec’d and include plenty of modern touches. That said, one thing that is often missing from these electric guitars is a nitrocellulose finish. If you want nitro lacquer on a Fender Jazzmaster, you’re looking at the Classic ‘60s version, which retails for £989, and only the top coat is nitro. So, with this PJ-6 coming in at £689, it’s a remarkably attractive package on paper.

The model I’m looking at today would certainly give a more established brand a run for its money in terms of specs. The PJ-6 features a solid offset Paulownia body, a smooth satin-finished roasted maple neck, and a rosewood fingerboard loaded with stainless steel jumbo frets and luminous side dots. For hardware and electronics, Patina has equipped it with a vintage-style tremolo, a Tune-O-Matic-style bridge, locking tuners, a real bone nut, high-quality Alpha pots, and a pair of custom-wound Alnico V P90 pickups.
