Nearly a decade later at 71 years of age, Tommy Emmanuel has seen and done it all, yet manages to stay fit as a fiddle and have a fresh perspective at every show.
Emmanuel keeps his chops razor-sharp and understands that’s not enough to keep a broad audience engaged. In addition to using multiple acoustics that mix up the set from a guitar perspective, he delivers insane amounts of energy, a keen sense of humor and a fair amount of motivational speaking as he drops personal anecdotes from his storied career.
The Endless Road, a long-awaited documentary about Emmanuel’s remarkable journey from the Australian outback to Music City, U.S.A., is finally being released on October 2. It follows the story of a child guitar prodigy who dedicated his life to becoming the world’s greatest acoustic guitar player — and the struggles he faced along the way.
The film explores Emmanuel’s relationship with his hero and mentor, Chet Atkins, and includes one of the last on-camera interviews with Tommy’s brother, Phil Emmanuel. The documentary has screened at numerous film festivals, earning critical praise and multiple awards.

We’ve done several GP Presents events with Emmanuel and players of all stripes always come out of the woodwork to hear his powerful Maton tone, appreciate his melodic mastery, and walk away feeling inspired to try a new technique.
Emmanuel just wrapped up his annual Guitar Camp U.S.A. in Nashville, about which he told Guitar Player, “I don’t care if you suck, and I don’t care if you are frigging brilliant. If I see you love it, I’ll do anything to help you.”
